First launched in 1991, the Trade Fair was designed as a means of exhibiting PRE horses to the public in general following the downturn caused by the African Horse Disease epidemic in Spain.
Until that year, Spain's borders had been closed, thus paralyzing all commercial and promotional activities, while the profound crisis sent shock waves through the industry.
The Fair continues at the same location and with the same activities as those with which it started. Likewise, the dates remain those leading up to and including the third weekend of November, every year.
After only eight years,
SICAB
reached an international level both in its organization and capacity, with 150,000 visitors, 1,200 examples of Purebred Spanish Horses coming from 124 stud farms, with an exhibition area exceeding 45,000 square meters.
